About

Welcome to rhishja.com! I’m Rhishja Cota-Larson.

I’m a blogger and content developer/curator, with a background in marketing and graphic design.

I launched Saving Rhinos LLC in 2007 as a side project, and then in mid-2009, I made the decision to temporarily forgo a paycheck and apply my online marketing and communications experience to a global cause which I believe needed to be brought to the public’s attention.

Much has been accomplished in those two and half years (see “Saving Rhinos: A global cause” below).

I would like to invite you to take a look at my content portfolio:

Saving Rhinos: A global cause

I launched Saving Rhinos in 2007 as a part time endeavor (a few t-shirts and a basic website) while I was working as a freelance designer and business blogger.

Then in mid-2009, I decided to work full time on raising public awareness about the illegal trade in rhino horn (with the exception of blogging about endangered species on Ecolocalizer until January 2010).

I’ve designed posters and t-shirts, created videos, built an 8,600+ Saving Rhinos page on Facebook®, a 1,500+ Twitter following, and written/curated over 500 articles on my blog, Rhino Horn is NOT Medicine.

A portion of the t-shirt commissions are contributed to Partnership for Rhino Conservation, Nepal (PARC). Read more about PARC’s work here.

In addition, I write the weekly Rhino Crisis Round Up (and articles about the illegal wildlife trade) on the environmental news blog Planetsave.com, and I recently launched Project Pangolin.

I was a guest blogger on National Geographic’s Nat Geo News Watch (Rhino horn: All myth, no medicine) and a contributor on Jeff Corwin Connect.

I published my book Murder, Myths & Medicine in February 2011.

I’ve been quoted in The New York Times and interviewed on The Wildlife and Mongabay.com, and I wrote the first article series about China’s rhino farming scheme. Read more here.

I was also the co-organizer of World Rhino Day 2011.
