Small Business Marketing: Stop ‘Shouting’ and Start Attracting Prospects

Are you still using telemarketing, cold-calling, unsolicited mass mailings, and other traditional advertising methods to “shout” at prospective clients and customers?

Well, guess what — there’s a better way.

Start “attracting” clients to you, instead of “shouting” at them.

Most people find “shout” tactics such as telemarketing, cold-calling, TV advertisements and radio commercials annoying and intrusive.

Thank goodness we can filter most of this junk out of our lives with the Do Not Call Registry, caller ID, Tivo, and SiriusXM!

And if you’re using “shout” tactics, you’re probably being filtered out of the lives of your potential clients/customers.

Wouldn’t you rather reach prospects in the way they prefer? (Of course you would.)

The “tools of attraction” are relatively low-cost and easily accessible to anyone.

Here are just a few:

  • Website (optimized for search)
  • Blogging
  • Social media (Facebook®, Twitter, etc.)

Blogs, social media, and your website are all aligned with the way your prospects make purchasing decisions. Your prospects search for information and then make their own decisions based on the information that’s available.

For example, a prospect who reads your blog or engages with your social media community is already further along in the sales cycle than if you had “interrupted” them with a telemarketing call or junk, er, direct mail piece.

If that isn’t enough to pique your interest, consider that “attraction” marketing efforts can be measured almost immediately!

Using built-in tools such as WordPress stats and Facebook® Insights, you can get near real-time engagement feedback, which enables you to further customize your content to meet the interests and needs of your prospects.

Is this a great time to be a small business, or what?!
